There is something quietly delightful about it — a photograph you have had for years, and it turns out to remember the hour, the place, the camera, and what the light was doing. The AI description puts words to the moment, and often the moment comes back with it.

What it actually pays for

Being specific seems fairer than asking vaguely. The running costs are modest:

Domain registration	once a year
Shared hosting	monthly
AI scene descriptions	per photo described
Map tiles and place-name lookups	free tier, for now

The AI descriptions are the only cost that scales with use. Every time someone presses Ask AI, a request goes to a vision model and is billed per image. It is a fraction of a rupee each time, which is nothing on its own and adds up across a lot of photos.

The rest is fixed, and would be the same whether ten people use the site or ten thousand.

What support does not buy

Worth being clear about, because plenty of “free” tools work differently:

• No features unlock. There is no pro tier. Everything is available to everyone now and will stay that way.
• No limits lift. There are no limits to lift — check as many photos as you like.
• No account appears. Supporting does not create one, because there are no accounts.
• Nothing changes about your privacy. Photos are read in your browser and never uploaded, for supporters and non-supporters alike.

So this is a contribution rather than a purchase. If you would rather keep your money, please do — using the tool and telling someone else about it is genuinely useful too.

Other ways to help

If paying is not for you, these cost nothing:

• Tell someone who would find it useful. A recommendation from a person is worth more than any amount of promotion.
• Report something that is broken. Photo Trace handles a lot of phone makes and models, and the awkward edge cases are the ones that teach us most. If a photo of yours does not read correctly, let us know.
• Link to a guide. If one of the guides answered something for you, linking it where the question comes up helps people find it.
